First Stage: Standing

The skill of standing without getting tired is not characteristic of modern humans.

A human is the only living being who keeps themselves vertically. As we know from our introductory course, the Will to power had got humans from their knees and the power energy blockages pull them down to their knees again. In order to stand straight and with confidence, humans have to keep the balance considering the center of gravity given by the nature. In the very vertical position of the human body its spine (the skeleton axis) takes the S-shape posture. Let us try to straighten ourselves giving the freedom to the innervation circulating through the spine.

Place your feet either in parallel to each other, or orthogonally. Your heels can be placed together or at a distance – there are no strict requirements as to that. Each of you will instinctively find the very posture which is the easiest to keep the balance in. Your arms should hang down freely, palms facing forward or touching the outside of the thighs. The abdomen should be flat – neither indrawn, nor protruding – or should it be relaxed (check in the mirror).

Standing in that posture soon you will start feeling pleasure. It will seem to you that you can stand this way forever without getting tired. Nevertheless, the previously achieved state of balance very soon will be disturbed. The energy blockages in the spine will show as movements of subordinate nature, i.e. you will stir your arm turning the palm backwards, you will drop your head, you will bend your back – and you will find yourself being in an unsteady and tiring posture you will get more tired of than of walking.

So here is an exercise. Take the above standing posture and stay in it for some time. Stand this way until you have made fifteen inhalations, concentrate on your limbs being in rest. It is a tough task. The fingers of a beginner will slightly get numb. So be patient. Gradually you will get used to that natural posture and you will start to obtain balance.
